Niger Delta Amnesty Office To Partner IAWPA in Training Niger Delta Youths As UN Volunteers
The Office of the Special Adviser on Niger Delta is set to partner the International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA in the training of Niger Delta youths as United Nations Peace Volunteers.
This position was made known to newsmen by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd) when he hosted members of the association in his office at Abuja.
Gen. Boroh (rtd) said the youths in the Niger Delta region have engaged in militancy due to lack of engagements in positive ventures something which he hoped to correct. While promising that the present administration in the country will not relent in positively empowering youths in the region towards attaining greater heights in whatever endeavour they find themselves, he called on youths to ensure that they seize the opportunity that will be provided by the training to empower themselves.
He regretted the fact that United Nations activities have not been well felt by youths in the country especially in the region while promising that his office will ensure that this situation is addressed.
The International spokesman of the association Amb. Dr. Emmanuel Nkweke while assuring the Special Adviser of the commitment of the association to training the youths in the Niger Delta region said the training will 500 hundred youths across the region in the areas of peace development, sustainable development as well as climate change.  He said the training programme will center on international and national volunteerism as well as on line volunteerism. Amb. Nkweke said the youths will be given certificates that will enable them to be well engaged with the United Nations Organisation as well as its affiliate entities.
