21 AMNESTY BENEFICIARIES GRADUATE FROM NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY, BOSTON, USA
It
was all smiles in far away USA and back here in Nigeria, as 21 beneficiaries of
the Presidential Amnesty Programme, graduated in various courses at the
Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The beneficiaries just
completed their 4 year study in the university and all graduated with excellent
results.
This
great achievement not only shows the Federal Governments commitment to the
Human Capital Development of the region, but also displays the administrations
willingness to carry on with positive projects carried over from the last
administration.
It
may interest you to know that over 1000 students are still in schools all over
the world, sent out by the last administration, but fully carried on by the
current leadership of Brigadier General Paul Boroh. The Amnesty Programme that
was setup to Disarm, Demobilize and Rehabilitate, Ex Agitators in the Niger
Delta Region, also has provision for training, scholarships and empowerment of
youth from impacted communities. This is one of such.
The
Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Brigadier General Paul
Boroh (Rtd), Senate Committee Chairman on Niger Delta, Senator Paul Nwaboshi,
House Committee Vice Chairman on Niger Delta, Hon Nasir Al Ahmed, Special
Assistant to the President on National Economic Council, Mr Donald Benibo
Wokoma, some other members of the National Assembly officials of the
Presidential Amnesty Office and a representative from the Nigerian High
Commission, were part of the powerful delegation that attended the graduation
ceremony on Friday 12th May.
The
graduating students thanked the President Buhari led Federal Government for
continuing with the programme, and promised to bring back their new acquired
knowledge to Nigeria and use it to positively affect their communities.
