REFORMED EX-NIGER DELTA AGITATORS FORUM APLAUD GEN. BOROH FOR COMMENCING EMPOWERMENT OF 1000 EX-AGITATORS IN AGRIBUSINESS

The Reformed Ex-Niger Delta Agitators’ Forum, has again applauded the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh (Rtd) over the commencement of an empowerment scheme for 1000 Ex-Agitators in Agribusiness across the Niger Delta region, adding that the ongoing historic agri-business empowerment package initiated by Gen. Boroh, goes to reaffirm the federal government’s commitment towards achieving sustainable peace and development in the Niger Delta region.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, the Chairman of the forum, Comrade George Sinclair, noted that the bold steps so far taken by the federal government through the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme to commence empowerment of youths in the Niger Delta, starting with the recent empowerment of 105 Ex-Agitators, who were earlier trained at the prestigious Songhai Farm in Rivers State, under the leadership of Gen. Boroh, were unprecedented in the history of the Amnesty programme.

The forum chairman said he was elated to see the eventual commencement of the ongoing agricultural empowerment package for beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Agriculture Scheme across the Niger Delta region, which started with the empowerment of 105 ex-agitators in George Town and parts of Okrika local government area, comprising clusters of integrated farms at strategic locations in communities that has meaningfully engaged the youths within a short period of its operations.

It would be recalled that the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh (Rtd) on Saturday (October 14, 2017) commenced the process of empowering no fewer than 1000 ex-agitators across the Niger Delta region, with the handover of an integrated cluster farm to 20 beneficiaries in George Town and 53 in other locations all in Okrika local government area of Rivers state, reaffirming that the federal government was committed to the sustainable peace and development in the region.
Gen. Boroh had called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders, including the federal, state and local governments, communities and oil companies, to forge a common front towards job creation for the youths in the Niger-Delta, just as he hinted on plans to replicate a prototype of the Okrika Agro Farmers Cooperative, Investment and Credit Society Limited, in other parts of the Niger Delta region.

GEN. BOROH INSPECTS EQUIPMENT AT FG’S AMNESTY VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE IN ONDO STATE

The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (Rtd) at the weekend embarked on inspection of facilities at the federal government’s Amnesty Programe vocational training centre located in Agadabga Obon-Arogbo in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo State, informing that President Muhammandu Buhari’s sincere commitment to the peace and infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region has built confidence in the people of the Niger Delta region. AGRICULTURE

One area that has remained of utmost importance to the Presidential Amnesty Office is Agriculture. This is in line with the presidential initiative on exploring available potentials in the sector to grow the national economy.  The Amnesty vigorously pursuing partnerships with relevant agroallied groups to among other things encourage the youth of the Niger Delta to embrace commercial agriculture. Some of the key partners include the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the National Bio-Technology Development center. Delegates have been empowered by the office to begin fishery, poultry and crop farming while thousands of delegates yet to be trained are now being deployed into Agriculture.
