AMNESTY OFFICE TO FOCUS ON SKILL ACQUISITION FOR BENEFICIARIES - Grace Udofia

Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Brigadier-Gen. Paul Boroh (retd.), has said there was need to train more of its delegates in various skills as the amnesty education programme is winding down.
He said the Amnesty Office had trained about 14,366 ex-agitators in agriculture, aviation, automobile engineering, skills acquisitions and entrepreneurship development since the inception of the programme.
Boroh, who disclosed this at a forum organised by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, said between now and December 17, the organisation will continue to graduate more ex-agitators, who have benefited from the scheme.
According to him, “as we speak, we have trained well over 5,000 persons in the area of education capacity development and we have trained well over 22,000 others in the area of skills acquisitions and entrepreneurship development.
“President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is aware of the need of having a specific set of skills by today’s youth to enable them survive in this competitive world. Beneficiaries, who are now graduates, are aware of the socio-economic situation of the nation and can help in moving the region and nation forward.”

GEN. BOROH INSPECTS EQUIPMENT AT FG’S AMNESTY VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE IN ONDO STATE

The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (Rtd) at the weekend embarked on inspection of facilities at the federal government’s Amnesty Programe vocational training centre located in Agadabga Obon-Arogbo in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo State, informing that President Muhammandu Buhari’s sincere commitment to the peace and infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region has built confidence in the people of the Niger Delta region. AGRICULTURE

One area that has remained of utmost importance to the Presidential Amnesty Office is Agriculture. This is in line with the presidential initiative on exploring available potentials in the sector to grow the national economy.  The Amnesty vigorously pursuing partnerships with relevant agroallied groups to among other things encourage the youth of the Niger Delta to embrace commercial agriculture. Some of the key partners include the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the National Bio-Technology Development center. Delegates have been empowered by the office to begin fishery, poultry and crop farming while thousands of delegates yet to be trained are now being deployed into Agriculture.
